About us

Probit are infrastructure planning software specialists, helping organisations make smarter, more transparent decisions about their long-term investments.

Founded in 2010 and based in Wales, UK, we’ve built our business around a single platform, AIM, initially branded as Asset Investment Manager.

AIM is used by utilities, energy networks, transport agencies and local authorities to plan billions of dollars in investment, balancing performance, cost, risk and sustainability at the level of individual assets.

We’re a product-first company, rather than a consultancy. Our focus is on building adaptable, powerful software that supports our users, partners and regulators in making better decisions under real-world constraints.

Building a better way to plan

Probit was established with a clear conviction: that infrastructure investment decisions could, and should, be made with more clarity, rigour and confidence.

When we started out on the AIM journey, many organisations were still relying on spreadsheets, static reports, or portfolio-level models to decide how billions in capital would be spent. The process was slow, opaque, and often shaped more by assumptions than by evidence.

We believed there was a better way. So we set out to build a platform that could bring together risk, performance, cost and regulatory alignment, and optimise those decisions at the level of individual assets.

That platform is AIM. It was designed from the ground up to meet the specific challenges of capital-intensive infrastructure sectors, and has been refined and expanded ever since in collaboration with our clients, partners and regulators.

Today, AIM is used across the UK and internationally by organisations responsible for managing water, gas, roads and other critical assets. And we’re still driven by the same principle that started it: better data, better models, better decisions.

Unrivalled experience in asset analytics.

Probit is a small, specialist team with deep experience in infrastructure modelling, investment planning, regulatory strategy and technical delivery. The business is managed by its founding partners.

Better decisions, better outcomes

Our mission is to help infrastructure organisations make better decisions about how they invest in the assets that matter most.

We believe that smarter, more transparent decision-making leads to better infrastructure, stronger performance and lower risk, not just for operators, but for the communities and environments they serve.

Our mission is delivered through AIM, our platform built to optimise complex investment choices in real-world conditions. It gives users the speed, control and clarity they need to plan with confidence – balancing cost, performance, regulatory requirements and long-term value.

Clear thinking, practical value

We believe in building the right tools and in staying focused on what we do best.
We’re not a consultancy, and we don’t compete with the firms who deliver frontline advisory services.
Instead, we work quietly and methodically, developing, supporting and refining AIM so that our consulting partners, their clients, and the wider infrastructure community can make better decisions with confidence.

Our approach is grounded in a few simple principles:

We enable others

AIM is built to support infrastructure experts in doing their best work, not to replace them or prescribe one way of thinking

We focus on our product

We support our consultancy partners with technical and strategic expertise, but we’re not there to lead client engagements. We’re all about AIM.

We focus on clarity

We believe in transparency, openness and shared understanding. Our platform, like our working style, is designed to be clear and controllable

We go deep, not wide

We’ve chosen to do one thing well: build and support the most powerful investment planning platform on the market.

We build for the real world

We design for practical constraints like time, budget and regulation, and help our users to work within them effectively.

This ethos shapes the things we do: how we build, how we partner, and how we help others succeed.

Corporate & Social Responsibility

At Probit, we believe in responsible business practices that support not just our clients, but the wider communities and environments in which we all operate. We’re committed to fairness, transparency, sustainability, and social value — both within our own business and in the impact our technology helps others achieve.

Explore our approach across five key areas:

We believe a diverse and inclusive workplace is fundamental to building great product, and a great company. We are committed to creating an environment where people are respected, supported and given equal opportunities to thrive, regardless of background, gender, ethnicity or life circumstances.

We offer flexible working arrangements and actively support a healthy work-life balance. As a small team, we invest in the wellbeing and professional development of every individual, and we’re proud to have a working culture based on trust, fairness and respect.

We are committed to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking in all aspects of our business and supply chain. While our operations and direct suppliers are low risk, we take our responsibilities seriously.

We follow clear procurement processes that include appropriate due diligence when working with third parties. Our internal policies promote transparency, and we maintain an open culture where staff can raise concerns without fear of consequence.

Modern slavery is a global issue that demands vigilance from every organisation — regardless of size. We are committed to playing our part.

We believe in doing the right thing; not just because that should be expected, but because it provides the foundation of trust.

We act with integrity in everything we do: how we build software, how we work with clients and partners, and how we make decisions as a business. We value openness, honesty and accountability, and we expect the same from the organisations we work with.

Our platform is designed with those same principles in mind. We don’t build black boxes or lock users into hidden logic. We make our tools transparent, explainable and controllable, so users can make ethical, evidence-based decisions of their own.

Infrastructure investment is about the long term.

We recognise the critical role that sustainability plays in shaping responsible asset management. AIM is designed to help organisations make decisions that balance financial, environmental and regulatory priorities, supporting everything from carbon reduction to resilience planning.

Internally, we follow environmentally responsible practices across our operations, including remote-first working, low-impact travel, and minimising unnecessary resource use. We’re a small business, but we take our footprint seriously, and we continue to evolve our approach as we grow.

We believe our work should contribute to broader social good, both directly and indirectly.

Directly, we support a range of charitable organisations, community initiatives and education programmes, particularly in the regions where we live and work. We’re also committed to creating a positive working environment for our tea; one that values wellbeing, balance and long-term development.

Indirectly, we take pride in the impact our software enables. By helping organisations invest more wisely in critical infrastructure, we support better services, safer communities, and more resilient networks for the public at large.
